Dean, Independent Driving Instructor. Last updated September 2026.
Who is responsible for your information
Dean is an independent driving instructor based in Newmarket, Suffolk, and is the data controller for the information collected through this website and during lessons.
What is collected
Through the contact form: your name, your message, and, if you choose to give them, your phone number and email address. You can also add optional details that help with booking, such as whether you want manual or automatic lessons, your current experience, preferred lesson times and your general pickup area.
If you become a student and are given a portal login: your name, contact details, lesson dates and times, lesson notes Dean chooses to share with you, homework, test date and any emergency contact details you provide.
The website does not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
Why it is used
To reply to your enquiry, arrange and deliver driving lessons, keep a record of lessons and progress, and manage payments and bookings. The legal bases relied on are your consent when you send an enquiry, and performance of a contract once lessons are booked.
Your details are not sold and are not used for marketing without your clear agreement.
Who else can see it
Information is stored on secure hosting and database services used to run this website. Those providers process data on Dean's instructions only. Information may also be shared where the law requires it.
How long it is kept
Enquiries that do not lead to lessons are kept only as long as they are useful, then deleted. Student records are kept while you are learning and for a reasonable period afterwards for accounting and record-keeping purposes.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of the information held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to how it is used, or withdraw consent. Contact Dean using the details below and he will respond.
If you are unhappy with the response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
